Russ Hopkins

I grew up on Long Island in New York and bought my first guitar when I was 14. I mostly taught myself and played my music in solitude for many years.  I worked on songs by The Beatles, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Moody Blues, Joan Baez, Harry Nilsson and Gordon Lightfoot to name a few.  I really like the sound of acoustic guitars and always gravitated to the songs that featured them.  Over time I tried my hand at writing along the lines of a private diary.  Eventually I started sharing my songs in performance and on records.  I also feature many traditional folk songs in my recordings and performances.
